Industrial Hose Reels

The Industrial Hose Reels were designed and drafted by Coal Engineering draftperson Damien Smith. Coal Engineering fabricated, blasted and painted the Industrial Hose Reels. These reels are of a smaller size but larger reels have been done in the past. The Yellow Industrial Hose Reels were used for specific outside purposes. The Red Industrial Hoses were used for specific fire application.

Tramp Iron Chute

A Tramp Iron Chute is part of a larger structure that allows coal to flow through freely onto the screen below. Coal Engineering fabricated, blasted and painted the Tramp Iron Chute. Coal Engineering also fabricated, blasted and painted an Underpan Chute and Head Chute Drive Frame which was included in the same structure.

Coffin Seal

Coal Engineering recently completed a Coffin Seal for a Bowen Basin Mine. The design was modified by Damien Smith, our drafts person, to resolve width issues. The Coffin Seal was then fabricated, blasted and painted at Coal Engineeering. Due to location in Capella project turn around time from inception to mine site was 3 weeks. This quick turn around time included sourcing materials for the fabrication from local steel and paint suppliers. Coal Engineering has Blast and Painting Booths to expediate the process. Goods delivered to mine sites, within an hour of Coal Engineering, are transported for free, using our own freight trucks.

Steel Grit Blasting

An abrasive blasting process which is specifically designed to handle industrial machinery, Steel Grit Blasting assists with the removal of rust and surface imperfections prior to spray painting.

Our Burwell Abrasive Blasting unit uses dust free, recycleable steel grit, allowing us to give the best results. Fitted with a compressor, refrigerated dryer and dust collector this enables us to achieve standards for classes 1 to 3 and profiles up to 80 microns.

BONUS: We are now offering a new low rate of $150.00 per hour for all blasting requirements.

QDS Materials Pod

Coal Engineering have recently completed a QDS (quick detachment system) Materials Pod for a Bowen Basin Mine. Designed, drafted, fabricated and painted by Coal Engineernig, the materials pod was designed for use as a transportable storage bin. It can be moved around the minesite using an EIMCO 130/913.

With engineer’s certification and risk assessments completed, Coal Engineering adhere to all safety and quality constraints necessary for the mining industry.

2012 Innovation Awards

Coal Engineering recently re-designed, drafted and fabricated a Longwall 1500 Structure Cassette which was nominated by Oaky Creek Coal (Oaky No 1) for the Queensland Mining Industry’s 2012 Innovation Awards.

The new design made it all the way to the finals, where it is one of ten great designs that have been recognised for their practical solutions to safety and occupational health problems. As part of the Queensland Mining Industry’s Health and Safety Conference, the Awards work to promote innovative ideas across the resources sector.

Some of the occupational health and safety features of the cassette are:

a) Tapered gates at one end provide a simple sliding mechanism for the H frames to be moved onto the cassette body from an ergonomical height.

b) The cassette fits within the dimensions of a 4.2m x 2.2m flat top trailer.

c) The design has eliminated pinch points when sliding the H frames along the cassette body.

d) Fork tyne access allows the cassette to be easily moved from one trailer to another, either loaded or unloaded.

We look forward to the results in August and applaud all contenders for working towards safe, practical solutions within the resources sector.

Electrical Cupboards

Designed and drafted by Coal Engineering Pty Ltd, these electrical cupboards are custom made to suit the requirements of our client, Oaky Creek Coal.

A workbench and cupboard combination allows safe storage of tools and consumables as well as an area to work nearby.

With fork tyne access, these sturdy cupboards can be easily moved around the workshop using a forklift.

The doors are designed to be pad locked enabling each electrician their own personal storage area that is safe and secure.

Cupboards have been sandblasted, primed and painted in a gloss white.
